Should you start to Tweet on Twitter? How about creating a Facebook business page? What role should YouTube videos play in building your business? Lately, a lot of Internet Startups are trying to determine the best business strategies for reaching clients through Social Media. This is a big topic. However, this screencast takes a look at two easy to use tools that, when combined, can provide you with powerful insights into your market demographics and how they want to be engaged through social media.
The first tool was built using data gathered during research for the book Groundswell from Forrester analysts Josh Bernoff and Charlene Li. Forrester is a leading research and strategy firm that follows technology trends. Groundswell provides a strategic approach to using Social Media, examines case studies of successful use of Social Media and provides frameworks for evaluating your ROI.
The second tool is called Quantcast. Quantcast was born out of the spirit of traffic tracking sites like Alexa and Compete, but adds an important dimension of providing a best-guess at the demographics of the people visiting your site. It is exactly this demographic data that the Groundswell tool uses.
Team and a Dream founder Skip Shuda explains how these tools can be used to create a Social Media Business Strategy.
