Guru.com is a great source in locating freelance talent in website design, programming, graphic design. If you’re looking for an alternative source, here’s the complete list of similar sites we’ve added so far:
- eLance - Another popular source in finding freelance talent. Find and hire people "on demand"
- oDesk - Hire, manage and pay remote contractors as if they were in thier own office
(We can compared eLance vs. Odesk in this updated post on February 2012)
- ScriptLance - Connect with programmers and outsource web projects
- The Freelance Nation - Find freelancers for accounting/finance projects, marketing projects, programmers and much more. The only one I’ve seen that doesn’t charge transaction fees
- GetaFreelancer.com - Join to find freelance programmers, web designers, and copywriters. Also provides outsourcing opportunities to India, Romania, Ukraine and other countries
- RentACoder (Now vWorker)- Find coders to build your custom software in an international marketplace
Updated (as of October 3, 2011):

BTW - recently, we have been using other sources for finding great professionals including ODesk.com on the specialist side and Craigslist.com on the generalist side.
Would anyone out there like to see an updated post comparing some of the best tools for searching for professionals to help grow your business?

@DavidbaeR - not sure I follow how that ties into this blog post. To be sure, though, we are trying to help the Small and Mid-sized Businesses with the ideas in this blog.

Often we forget the little guy, the SMB, in our discussions of the comings and goings of the Internet marketing industry. Sure there are times like this when a report surfaces talking about their issues and concerns but, for the most part, we like to talk about big brands and how they do the Internet marketing thing well or not so well.
